Macrovision is amongst the companies that makes backing up some of your games hard, but not impossible, and according to Yahoo business the companies profit has been tumbled, while their revenues were slightly higher. The developer of protections for video games (SafeDisc), VHS and audio CDs had a forecast revenue of $22 million to $23 million and earnings, before charges, of 13 cents to 14 cents a share.
For the current quarter, Macrovision said it expects economic conditions to remain difficult and said it is comfortable with analysts' estimates for earnings, before charges, of 18 cents to 19 cents a share on total revenue of $26 million to $28 million.
The company also said it was "comfortable" with Wall Street's fourth-quarter forecast for earnings, before charges, that are up from the September quarter but down from the year-ago period ended December. |
The maker of software to prevent unauthorized copying of VHS tapes, DVDs and video games reported third-quarter net income of $1.6 million, or 3 cents a share, compared with net income of $6.4 million, or 12 cents, last year.
Excluding various items, Macrovision reported a profit that fell 27 percent year-on-year to $7.7 million, or 15 cents
