Testing the HD931 DVD Player As this is a High Defintion DVD player, my testing was only on a High Definition TV. So what better than running the test on Samsung's new HLN5065 DLP HD television. It is a 50 inch DLP television with all the bells and whistles. DLP = Digital Light Processing. Without getting to technical, DLP was originally designed in the early 80's by Texas Instruments (TI) . TI partnered with Samsung in the late 90's to develop a different way for producing higher quality clearer images on a larger screen in a shallower lighter TV shell. Unfortunately I couldn't take any photos of the TV and the unit together as I ran the review at a store my friend worked at and I wasn't allowed to take any unauthorized photos in the shop. Anyhow, take my word for it. The 50 inch DLP television hooked up with the DVI cable to the DVD HD931 IS BLOODY SPECTACULAR. Watching a DVD like Monsters Inc. or Finding Nemo, the colors were super vivid, clean and crisp. The DVI connection and scanning 720 lines progressively the picture was truly amazing you really have to see it for yourself. The depth of the image, the sharpness of the image, the colors were all awesome. If you buy any HD Ready TV that has a DVI connection on it, you should definitely consider buying a HD DVD player to complement it if you are not using the DVI connection for a HD cable signal. Buy the DVD HD931. |
