Scottish pirates given amnesty day to visit DVD shredder

According to new research, more people in Scotland have purchased a pirated DVD movie than others in the UK. For this reason, there has been a program put in place, that would allow folks to take their warez in to be shredded. During the day, 'genuine' DVD's will be given away as a bit of an incentive as well.

New figures show that sales of pirate DVDs are up two per cent on 2005, with almost 78 million fakes sold last year.

Lavinia Carey, director general of the British Video Association, and a director of the industry campaign, said: "People are leading affluent lifestyles from their illegal activities."

The shredder will be on Castle Street from 10am tomorrow.

I guess that comment above is a new one, indicating to those wondering, that crime certainly pays. We have to wonder how many scofflaws will be bold enough to take advantage of this amnesty program. This would be a good video to watch on the evening news. Or perhaps the pirates will be a bit camera shy.
