Trading Standards officials raided a 'secret DVD factory' yesterday, which supplied pirated films to illegal outlets across East Anglia. Not a bad selection either, with titles such as; Day After Tomorrow, Harry Potter-Prisoner Of Azkaban and Troy - not to mention the yet to be released in the UK, Shrek 2! The quality was there as well, according to authorities these were created from high quality master discs.
The illegal factory in Ilford High Street, east London, was traced following an undercover operation by trading standards officials in Essex and Cambridgeshire. Their investigation took them to rented first floor premises which they raided early this morning. Officials were said to be "astounded" at the scale of the operation, with banks of high-speed DVD re-recorders capable of producing hundreds of copies of DVDs every day. Crime scene investigation teams are currently combing through the haul and premises looking for evidence - and have even taken DNA samples for analysis in the hope of tracing more of those involved in illegal activity. |
Looks like the scoundrels had a pretty sophisticated operation. You can read the whole story over at Anglia news.
