Yesterdat we reported here that KaZaA was partually bought by Sharman Networks, an Australian multimedia company, in order to save KaZaA from going down on a Dutch courts order.
Now, it seems that not only KaZaA didn't go down, but it didn't go down under either!
Sharman Networks is nowhere to be found in Australians online telephonebook. The company is also unknown to the ASIC (every Australian company is registered by the ASIC). That could mean that the company is brand new and has been funded in order to get KaZaA out of trouble with the Dutch court.
Well, that sounds good. KaZaA out of trouble, everybody happy again. Unfortunately, that ain't reality. According to one of the lawyers dealing with this case, this "solution" will not be liked by the judges, so KaZaA still has to pay €45.000 for everyday it's online and giving the possibility of spreading copyprotected material.
Personally, I can't figure out why they want to get KaZaA offline. Even for non-illegal purposes the program and especially its technology offers a great number of useful options.....
And I guess they know that on the moment they shut one down, 3 others will take its place!
