Sharp releases a Blu-ray standalone recorder

On a news published at DIGIT is shown the new Sharp BD-HP1 Blu-ray standalone recorder.  According to the article, this recorder is cheaper than other standalones because it doesn't contain a tuner and it's able to use the tuner included in TV screens.

This recorder can be connected via iLink (IEEE1394) to a TV, but the bad news is that this connection is guaranteed only for all models of Sharp Aquos LCD TV line that sport an iLink connector; Sharp hasn't verified if other brands will work correctly also.

Sharp will start selling the BD-HP1 on March 20 in Japan, and it will be priced at about ¥150,000 (US$1,260 or €970.00).
