SlySoft releases CloneCD v5.0, adds DVD read/write functions!

Mad Burner and H-EvA-K both reported us that the CloneCD software has been updated. Most of our visitors will know this software as it's famous for its ability to back-up copy-protected CD's. CloneCD was originally developed by Elaborate Bytes but due to the German legal situation the company transferred the software to SlySoft from Antigua.

A few days ago SlySoft also got the rights to distribute CloneDVD, another product from Elaborate Bytes. Today, SlySoft has released CloneCD 5.0 which seems to have been updated with some of the CloneDVD features as the software now fully supports the reading and writing of most DVD formats:

CloneCD 5.0.0.0 (beta) 2004-07-29:

  • New: Added ability to read most DVD formats. Note: DVD must not be copy protected, use AnyDVD if it is
  • New: Added ability to write DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW,DVD+R Dual Layer and DVD-RAM
  • New: Added ability to erase DVD-RW and DVD+RW
  • New: Added .dvd "split file" image format. This format works with FAT32 partitions and is compatible with VirtualCloneDrive.
  • New: Added ability to write .iso and .udf formats created with other applications (e.g., Nero, DVD2One, DVDShrink or CloneDVD)
SlySoft reports that CloneCD 5.0 is a free upgrade for all registered customers. If you want, you can install the beta version on top of your current version, regardless which version you have installed. Note though that it's a beta version... Please use our CloneCD Forum on Club CD Freaks to discuss CloneCD 5.0!
