The Advanced Access Content System Licensing Administrator has once again started one of their 'proactive renewals'. Many owners of high-definition media don't know what to do if they can not update their software or hardware players. Later this month the new version of the protection system will be available on Blu-ray release like 'Alien Vs. Predator 2' and 'Alvin and the Chipmunks'.
In response to this decision Slysoft has updated its system to support those new discs and those released in the next months. All licensed customers of 'AnyDVD HD' can update to the new version 6.4.1.1 free of charge... Fernando Cabezas, employee at Slysoft said: "This again is a great feature for our customers. Only a few days before the official release of new titles we already can say, you can continue to watch your favourite movies on your favourite equipment. Not only the equipment the industry forces you to use."
After giving a reaction on their new product release, Cabezas continues to give his opinion. He calls it a shame that some major manufacturers dropped their playback of all purchased media after HD DVD's withdrawal. "This new method of forcing customers to buy their already owned media again is a taste of what DRM is able to do."
