Sonopress, one of the largest chain of CD/DVD
manufacturing plants has announced it will start production of DVD-14 and DVD-18
DVDs. These DVDs can contain high quality movies that require more capacity then
current DVD-5 and DVD-9 discs. The discs can be played on normal DVD players,
but are double sided. A DVD-14 disc contains a DVD-9 and DVD-5 layer, a DVD-18
disc contains two DVD-9 layers.

replication companies have this breadth of legacy and cutting-edge
formats. From audio cassettes to the newest DVD formats, we offer the
widest range of media replication services to meet the growing needs of
our customers," he added.
The new, larger DVD 14 and 18 formats provide
more storage capacity, allowing publishers to add multiple aspect ratios
and other supplementary content on each disc. At 14GB and 18GB,
respectively, DVD 14 and 18 offer between 40 and 80-percent more capacity
than DVD 9, which is currently the most common format used in DVD video
situations. |
The new production line will be installed in spring and will
first have a capacity of about 10.000 discs a day. More information can be found
