Sony, Comcast open joint store in Philadelphia

Electronics giant Sony and cable powerhouse Comcast have joined forces and are in final preparations to open a new joint high-end electronics store in Philadelphia, PA.

Both companies will focus on high-end Sony products and new Comcast services that consumers can use with their pricey TVs and other Sony gadgets.

Depending on the success of the first store -- which is located in the Comcast Center -- other stores could begin to pop up in the area. The store will double as a way for Sony and Comcast to preview new technologies in its labs section, so people will be able to see up-and-coming technologies.

The new Sony-Comcast store is scheduled to open on Tuesday, and is located on the first floor of the Comcast headquarters.

If you're ever in the area, would you be willing to stop by the store?

It should be interesting to see how Sony does in this joint venture with Comcast, as it has had recent ups and downs in regards to retail stores.  Sony was forced to close its only PlayStation store, which was in San Francisco, due to lack of consumer interest -- i.e. no one was going into the store and purchasing anything.

However, the company still runs official outlet stores across the country, where Sony is still able to generate a shopping buzz.
