The specifications of Sony's new
8x DVD writer are now listed on SonyStyle's website. The drive was displayed about a month
ago at the WPC Expo show in Japan but here are now more detailed
specifications:
4x,12x,16x (CLV), 24x~32x (P-CAV), 40x (CAV)

At
WPC Expo the CD-R/RW max write speed was specified to use Z-CLV technique but as
you can see it now looks like the DRU-530A uses CAV/P-CAV technique instead
which is a good thing. It however also looks like Sony has reduced the buffer
size from the 8 MB in DRU-500A/510A to "only" 2 MB in the DRU-530A. You can find
