Sony announces DVD Dream home theater in a box

Those of us thinking of
investing in a home theater system may be interested in this new offering
from Sony.
Siting a booming consumer demand for home theater-in-a-box packages, they are
touting a state of the art experience with a "unique contemporary design".

The
DAV-FC9's new adjustable-height speakers and stylish, slim receiver enable
easy integration of the full-scale system into virtually any home theater
set-up. Additionally, the tower speakers can be removed from the
integrated stand to provide a wall mount option, perfect for use with
today's flat panel display devices. It also offers progressive scan output
for crisp, clean video image reproduction with DVDs.

"Home theater enthusiasts demand contemporary design and
ease-of-use with dynamic audio and video performance," said Tim Baxter,
senior vice president of The Home Products Division for Sony Electronics.
"Sony's newest DVD Dream™ systems combine the latest design features
enhanced with improved home theater technologies to offer consumers an
attractive, simple yet elegant entertainment center."

According to Sony, after just minutes of
set-up time, users can enjoy the DAV-FC9 while lounging in the comfort
of their easy chair. Thanks to the intuitive, easy to use Remote Commander.
Other system features are a 5-Disc DVD/SACD/CD Changer with Progressive Scan
Output, 650 Watts Total System Power (100Wx5, Powered Sub 150Wx1). Some other
capabilities are:

Playback of CD-R/RW, Super Audio CD (Multi), MP3 Playback, JPEG Playback with Slide
Show, Dolby Digital, dts and Dolby Pro Logic II Decoding. The system tuner
has 20 FM + 10 AM Station Presets. Although not available until September,
the unit lists for 1000 dollars US and can already be found on the
Internet for 900 dollars US.
