Sony announces new Blu-ray devices

Despite lackluster sales since launch, Sony has moved forward in its Blu-ray push by announcing several new Blu-ray products aimed at the consumer market.

Most notably was the launch of the BDP-S560, a new wireless Blu-ray standalone player that will be released in May for $350 USD.  This Blu-ray player also has two built-in USB ports.  The BDP-S560 is BD-Live capable and can do everything wirelessly, which should help owners clean up cable clutter in the living room.

BDP-S560 is also Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) ready, so it can connect with other DLNA devices for digital photo sharing purposes.

Sony also announced the BDP-S360 Blu-ray player which is similar to the BDP-S560, but without the wireless capability.  The Japanese electronics company expects to ship the BDP-S360 later this summer for $300.

Both players have up-scaling technology, and support 1080/24p, 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus, along with bit-stream output via HDMI.
