As reported in the New York Times, Sony has got up there with the competition and brought to market a Blu-Ray equipped laptop. Priced very competitively at 2,149 USD, it has all the expected other hardware (Core Duo, Nvidia GeForce 8400M GT video and HDMI-out to HD-capable TVs).
Whilst some consumers feel Sony products are over-priced for their undoubted quality, their reliability is not often challenged and this seems a very good price for the technology within. You'd expect Sony to take every opportunity to push its interests in Blu-Ray, and this development may help some people who are currently 'HD-undecided', to put a foot firmly in the camp.
