Sony shows Handycam DVD100 and DVD200 DVD camcorders


Sony has released information about two DVD camcorder. The Handycam DCR-DVD100 and DCR-DVD200 allow you to store home shot movies directly on mini DVDs. These DVDs are smaller (8cm) in diameter then normal DVDs (12cm). These small discs can be played on most normal DVD playing devices.

The Handycam DCR-DVD200 is a one-megapixel camcorder, while the DCR-DVD-100 sports an 800,000-pixel CCD. Both are capable of delivering high-quality video and still images (JPEG format) at variable resolutions, and both feature a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens with a 10x optical zoom, 120x precision digital zoom, a 2.5-inch LCD screen and USB 2.0 interface, Sony says.

The devices should be available in November 2003. Pricing information is not yet available.
