Sony to use nonflammable biomass plastic in new DVD players

Sony has announced that it will use a nonflammable and environmentally-friendly kind of plastic casing in it's upcoming DVD player line. The company will be using a plastic that has been co-developed with Mitshibishi Plastics.

The plastic, co-developed with Mitsubishi Plastics, is as tough as ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) resin, and delivers enough strength required for consumer products. Sony has been actively promoting global environmental conservation through the use of a wide variety of biomass materials for its product casings and packaging materials .
