Sony's first compact widescreen LCD projector

Last week Sony introduced a new line of compact LCD projectors. The new line consists of four new models, including Sony's first compact widescreen model. Most of the models will be available this month, but one is ready for shipping in May. Ofcourse Sony wanted to name the four projectors and as always these aren't simple. The widescreen VPL-EW5 is available in May and the VPL-EX50, EX5 and ES5 are shipping this month. All projectors have several features in common...

In the first place all of the projectors offer an HDMI input and there is a short-throw lens featured. This lens helps you to change your preference when working in a smaller classroom, or meeting room. Sony's BrightEra technology is added to improve the projector's resilience and all of the projectors have a remote commander unit and 4x digital zoom.

The price differences exist because of the differences in every projector's brightness. For example the EX50 offers a brightness of 2,500 lumens, while the EX5 comes at 2,000 lumens. The widescreen VPL-EW5 is the most expensive at $1,410. The others come at a price between $910 and $1,270.
