Standard Recording Co. bundles silk screened CD-R in 500 albums

Saw this
over at Music Industry News. Nothing standard about this. Standard Recording will include blank CD-R's in the first 500 copies of Sad Pants, the debut release from Castle Oldchair. But that isn't all, they encourage that you copy the music and share it with friends.

The purchaser of Sad Pants will be encouraged to use the CD-R to make an extra copy of Sad Pants for themselves or to pass it along to a friend. The CD-R will be silk-screened with the artist and release name along with a statement encouraging support of the artist and independent record stores. Sad Pants will be released January 13th and will be available throughout the United States and Canada in independent record stores.

Hey, talk about thinking outside the box! Maybe this company will garner support for their bold marketing philosophy from a grateful public. The album is only nine dollars. They have a belief at Standard Records that all albums should be under 10 dollars. Beginning this month, anyone that orders from this company will receive a copy of one or more of the following magazines free: Skyscraper, READ, Innocent Words, and Scheull.
