TDK Recording Media Europe, today announced a world first in portable hi-fi
technology, with the launch of its funky OutLoud CD Wallets. These
high-performance, competitively priced CD wallets incorporate NXT™ flat panel
speakers in their case which, when connected to a music source such as a
portable CD player or notebook computer, pack a powerful punch.
Available in two versions, stereo or mono, the OutLoud CD Wallets can store
either 24 or 12 CD's respectively. Inside each version is a mesh pocket to carry
a personal stereo, which plugs into the OutLoud speakers via an attached lead.
Sound then plays out through the concealed NXT™ flat panel speakers hidden in
the OutLoud case, which is made of a rubber-like material which helps guard your
CD's and personal stereo against water, sand and knocks.
Commenting on the OutLoud CD Wallets, Stefan Lommes, TDK's Product Manager
for Consumer Electronics said: "TDK's audio products go from strength to
strength and these innovative OutLoud CD Wallets are no exception. Travellers
are always keen to conserve as much space as possible when on the move.
Normally, holidaymakers have taken a CD wallet and mini hi-fi system with them
abroad, with TDK's new OutLoud CD Wallets this is no longer necessary, freeing
up valuable luggage space for that extra pair of shoes."
He added, " Even business travellers who normally have no other choice but to
play presentations through poor quality notebook speakers will be glad to hear
that they can now raise the audio quality of their presentations with TDK's
OutLoud CD Wallets."
Despite their size TDK's OutLoud speakers include high-power multi-channel
amplification and sophisticated bass technologies to achieve an audio
performance far beyond conventional multimedia speakers in their power range and
with minimal distortion.
The stereo version has twin speakers and is powered by 3x AA batteries. The
mono version has one speaker and is powered by 2x AA batteries. Both models are
available in black, blue or red.
Advanced Technologies for Superior Multimedia Sound
NXT's
revolutionary SurfaceSound technology is at the heart of the TDK multimedia
speaker systems' exceptional sonic performance. Unlike conventional speaker
designs, SurfaceSound technology yields complex vibration modes over the entire
panel surface, producing full frequency response from 60 Hz to 20 kHz from a
single driver for remarkably pure, coherent and uncolored sound quality. In
addition, the panel's wider dispersion pattern fills the listening area with an
expansive soundfield, eliminating the "beaming" of conventional multimedia
speakers and creating a wider sonic "sweet spot."
TDK first broke into the speaker market with its MMS-XS80, MMS-XS60 and
MMS-XS40 flat panel models proving extremely popular in Europe.
Estimated street pricing for the TDK OutLoud Wallets will be £ 29.99 (stereo
version) and £ 19.99 (mono version). These will be available in Europe from July
2003.
