Teac has send
us a press release which announces the availability of their latest
product, the TEAC DV-W50D, a dual format DVD recorder. This drive writes
DVD+R and DVD-R at 4x, DVD+RW at 2.4x and DVD-RW at 2x. The drive also
writes CD-Rs (16x) and CD-RWs (10x),

speeds are 12x for DVD-ROM (access time 140 ms) and 32x for CD-ROM
discs (access time (130 ms).
The DV-W50D has a buffer of 2 MB, buffer
underrun protection and RPCII region playback control.The drive comes with Pinnacle Studio 8, all connection
cables and a DVD-R. The estimated street price is about 289 EURO incl. VAT.
Teac drives have always been known for high quality, but recently Teac
seemed to found out about rebadging and is rumored to have used Pioneer and Asus
internals.
