Taiwan blank optical disc production value to grow 31.49%

GristyMcFisty used our news submit to tell us about this tidbit of
information he found over at DigiTimes. DVD burners are getting more popular by
the month, and it does not look like they have peaked as of yet. Hence, the disc
manufacturers are enjoying great sales growth, at least these ones in
Taiwan.

Taiwan's production value for optical disc drives (ODDs) will grow 31.49% this year to NT$ 138.2 billion (US$ 4.08 billion), while optical disc production value will grow 19.85% to NT$ 93.6 billion (US$ 2.76 billion), according to projections by the Taiwan-based Industrial Economics and Knowledge Center (IEK). Increases in second-quarter ODD production value this year were mainly due to fast-growing shipments of DVD burners and DVD recorders, while the decrease in optical-disc production value was due to continued drops in CD-R OEM prices, IEK pointed out.

Well, that's some real good news for us. You can see the
rest of this article including some comparison charts, over at
DigiTimes.
 Thanks Gristy!
