Taiwan second-tier makers increase CD-R OEM prices

It seems that the prices for CD-R disks are rising. Caused by increased prices of polycabonate, one of the main components of CD-R medias, some Taiwan diskmakers had to rise their OEM quotations for CD-R medias.

Some second-tier and smaller manufacturers of optical discs recently increased their OEM quotations for CD-R discs to US $ 0.10, up from US $ 0.08-0.09, on increased costs of polycarbonate (PC), a key component, according to Taiwan makers. Amid an extremely competitive market, the increased price level of PC, which has risen to more than US $ 3 per kilogram, has forced many small makers of CD-R discs in China to leave the market and some second-tier and smaller competitors in Taiwan to decrease production.
