DigiTimes reports that Taiwanese suppliers (Ritek, CMC Magnetics and Prodisc) are to raise the price of CD-Recordable media again in this year's third quarter.
| The company raised its CD-R disc prices just earlier this month, and the prices could go up further after the increase in the summer, according to Wong. The price dip last year was mainly a result of second-tier makers trying to seize market share, Prodisc said. Demand has been much stronger this year, and major CD-R disc makers have been running at high utilization since early this year and it is not surprising to see prices going up, Prodisc said. |
CD-R manufacturer Ritek has also said that it's very likely that they will pursue continuous price growth in the second half of this year.
