bracing themselves for some tough competition. Indians biggest optical
disk manufacturer Moser Baer India (MBI) has increased its annual production
capacity from 5 million DVD's to 25 Million. Even with this increase
analysts think that the market is too heavily saturated and rising prices of
polycarbonate are still too high to enable price reductions on
media.
Taiwanese manufacturers
are still not concerned about the increase in production from Moser Baer
India as they are confident that the
company will not be able to get into the market that quickly. Taiwanese
firms are more concerned about the CD-R market as they know that Indian
companies can churn these out quite quickly. Taiwanese companies can still step
up production and produce around 260 million dvd discs a month, world demand
requires around 2.5 billion discs a year.
