The Digital Millennium Copyright Act strikes again

I think we are loosing more and more our rights to make a working backup of our CD`s and to make it work in a proper way.

"US Customs agents have stopped the shipments of NEO4s, a chip that allows PlayStation consoles to run DVDs with geographic encryptions and games copied on to CD-ROMs."

"These chips, called "mods," have come under scrutiny by corporations claiming the technology violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which restricts anyone's ability to circumvent copy protections."

It seems the DMCA is being used and excuse by copyright holders to indiscriminately throw their power around.

There is more to read about this and the DMCA here
