The MPAA has its eyes on you by Proxy

According to the MPAA, it's losing millions of dollars to the
the selling of counterfeit dvd's by street vendors. They've decided they're
going to try a new approach to see if it will help solve their problem. The MPAA
has decided to install street cameras on select corners of L.A.'s fashion
district.

Again, the funny thing about this is that the L.A.P.D will
be doing all the monitoring. What that means is the California taxpayers will be
responsible for the L.A.P.D 's bills. I can only imagine the executives at
the MPAA panhandling for change on the same street corners as the street
corner dvd vendors cause they're just too broke to afford to eat. Yeah
right.

The MPAA
claims it has struggled financially thanks in larger part to street
vendors selling counterfeit DVDs. Counterfeit DVDs cover a wide selection,
ranging from the latest theatrical release to old time favorites. Due to
the low prices and generally decent quality, such street vendors typically
generate solid revenue to the underground
economy.

The
MPAA is delighted to assist the fine and dedicated efforts of Los Angeles
law enforcement officials in catching people selling illegal DVDs," said
John G. Malcolm, Senior Vice President and Director, Worldwide Anti-Piracy
Operations, MPAA. 'It is our pleasure to assist them with these cameras
which will help them lift a rock and shine a light on rampant
counterfeiting of DVDs which used to take place in the dark
shadows.

revenues, go to Slyck.com and take a look.
