The copy DVD/Playstation to CD/VHS SCAM part III

A few weeks ago we reported about the copy DVD to CD, Playstation to CD etc. etc. Scam and tried to trackdown the guy/company behind this.

One of our visitors called pgray did an extensive research after this spammer and you can find his results on a website dedicated to this scam.

The first e-mail invited me to buy "DVD Wizard", a piece of software which (supposedly) copies camcorder and VHS movies into DVD format and burns them onto a standard CD-ROM, for a fraction of the "thousands of $$" I would pay for conventional DVD copying equipment. Sounds too good to be true? It is. According to CD Freaks (first posting, second posting), this software converts DVDs to MPG or VCD format and burns the resulting file on to a CD-ROM. The result would not be a true DVD, and the quality would probably be poor.

Some people think that if other people are gullible enough to buy this stuff, it's their problem. I disagree. I think that within reason, people deserve to be protected from conmen selling fake or shoddy goods, and I also think that when anyone buys anything, they are entitled to know exactly what they are buying and who they are buying it from. This spammer fails both tests.

It's a long but intresting article to read that clearily took some time and efforts of the author. Read the entire article here.
