Toshiba debuts smallest HDD MP3 player

GristyMcFisty used our news submit to tell us that Toshiba has announced
the smallest HDD MP3 Player. MP3 players are currently available in 3 models,
players that use flash memory, CDs or a small harddrive (HDD). Big disadvantage
of HDD players are its size and price, big advantage the large capacity to store
files. The player named the
Gigabeat G20 MEG200J is just 1.27cm thick and  measures 8.95 x
7.65cm.

The G20 features a small, 160 x 86 backlit LCD
screen. Tracks can be transferred to the device via its USB 2.0 port,
which can also operate as a USB 1.1 connection for older host computers.
The built-in Lithium-ion battery provides enough charge for up to 11 hours
of playback - more than the iPod's eight-hour battery life - though that's
likely to be much reduced when the machine has to decode WMA9 files.

The Toshiba player has a built-in equalizer, but it seems limited
to off, enhanced bass, even more enhanced bass and loud settings.

The device should be on sales in Japan in
October. More information and pictures of the device can be found on TheRegister.
