Toshiba is preparing to introduce two new 'Gigabeat" models, with MP3 and digital photo/viewing funtions. The players, MEGF20 and MEGF60, of 20GB and 60GB, respectively, will hit the Taiwan market at the end
of this month.
When Toshiba first launched its first series MP3 players in Japan last year, it gained a 20% market share, right next to Apple iPod's 30%. The intention of Toshiba is to ship around 30,000 HDD MP3 players in Taiwan and become one of the top five brands.
These players feature a 2.2-inch TFT-LCD screen with 65,536 colors. MP3, WMA and WAV are the formats supported and the battery life is up to 16 hours of continuous playback. The price of the 20GB player will be of €315, while the 60GB version will cost €438.
