Twenty-something CD burners: the write stuff

Cnet has tested four CD-RW drives from Plextor, Yamaha, QPS and Acer. All drives write with speeds of 20 speed or more. All drives are reviewed and they give the latest prices so you can by them online.

You will notice that both the Yamaha and Acer drives are picked as Editors choice, and not the Plextor. I assume Cnet.com reviews for the masses and not for 'experts' like our visitors. Anyways if you still want to read it, go ahead !

If you like to rip music CDs by the dozens, make frequent backups of your data files, share gigantic movie clips with your friends, and never delete anything--ever--then you simply must have a heavy-duty removable-storage setup. Zip drives are too slow and small. DVD-RAMs are still too expensive for most of us, and so far, you can share the media with only a lucky few.

So what's the answer? We looked at four next-generation CD-R/RW drives (20X to 24X) that burn like wildfire, don't cost a fortune, and come with all the extras you need to scratch your multimedia itch. Two of them were good enough to deserve an Editors' Choice--but for different reasons. Read on to pick the CD burner that lights your fire.
