DamnedIfIknow used our news submit to tell us that during a raid by
federal authorities in the Washington D.C. area of three video game
stores, two people were arrested for allegedly selling modified game
consoles. The video game consoles had been modded in a way that allowed them to
play pirated video games. The charges filed against the video game store
employees are conspiracy to commit copyright infringement and conspiracy to
traffic in a device that circumvents technological protection measures.
Whoa that's just a little brazen wouldn't you say? The
Entertainment Software Association stated that the raids on the three Pandora's Cube stores in
Maryland and Virginia were a joint effort of the U.S. Department of Justice's
computer crimes unit, the U.S. Attorney's Office for Maryland and the Bureau of
Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
