Two month investigation leads to arrest of Melbourne DVD pirate

heystoopid used our news submit to tell us "Alas, whilst I was enjoying my morning Latte and slice of cake at a local coffee shop, I read this article in the local Murdoch rag, about piracy down under in the city where I live no less. Fair is fair, after all the action overseas in Europe, Asia and the America's you can't expect us Aussies to be left out can you."

A MELBOURNE man has been charged for selling counterfeit DVDs of new-release films in markets around Victoria. The 38-year-old man from St Albans, in the western suburbs, was charged yesterday after an investigation of more than two months by federal and Victorian police and the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft. Police seized more than 5000 counterfeit DVDs and computer equipment allegedly used to make them after executing two search warrants at houses in St Albans early yesterday.

Something else rather interesting, as part of the bail
agreement, he has been banned from attending all Victorian markets, including
the Laverton and Caribbean Gardens markets - his apparent
entrepreneurial stomping grounds. In addition, it appears
the Aussie justice system is swift, as he faces trial this November
the 18th.
