It looks like the three year decline of music album sales in
the US are about to change with a 7% rise in sales during the first six months of this year. A total of 305.7m albums were sold from January to June this year, these results could mean and end to falling sales which are blamed on the economy and piracy by the music industry. The holiday season is expected to bring even higher sales which will help beat sales for the previous year.
Along with higher album sales digital download growth has shot up with about 2.4million downloads taking place each week. Over 56million downloads took place in the first 6 months of this year meaning at the end of the year digital downloading should pass the 100 Million sales mark.
