In Florida, USA two men were charged for a large piracy case. The owner of Barrios Music Group and Tape Duplicators, and warehouse manager Rolando Peralta were charged for allegedly making thousands of counterfeit CDs and cassettes.
If convicted the men could face a maximum penalty of ten years in jail, a criminal fine of up to $2 million and restitution to the legitimate copyright and trademark owners.
Marcos Daniel Jiménez said the jury charged Daniel Berrios, owner of Barrios Music Group and Tape Duplicators, and warehouse manager Rolando Peralta with copyright violations for allegedly making thousands of counterfeit CDs and cassettes. The suit charges Berrios and Peralta with brokering or selling more than $3 million in counterfeit music. |
The business operated out of a warehouse at 2116 W. 62nd St., in Hialeah, according to court documents, which charge the duo produced thousands of counterfeit music CD and cassette tapes without the authorization of the lawful trademark and copyright holders.
