VIA announces encoder allowing PC's to support HDTV displays

GristyMcFisty used our news submit to tell us about some exciting news from VIA Technologies. The Inquirer is reporting that VIA's new HDTV encoder chip will feature a plethora of inputs and outputs. The VT1625 will enable PCs to support HDTV displays and also take input from graphics chips or MPEG decoders including 1080i HDTV.

The encoder will support inputs from 640x480 to 1024x768, including HDTV input formats 1280x720 or 1920x1080 in different RGB pixel formats, as well as YCrCb pixel data formats.It will also perform non-interlace to interlace conversations.It includes six 10-bit DACs and video standards including NTSC-M, NTSC-J, PAL-B, D, G, H, I, PAL-M, PAL-N and PAL-NC. It can also output composite video, S-Video, and a variety of other signals as well as supporting SCART interfaces and D-Terminals, Via said.
