DamnedIfIknow used our news submit to tell us "I hope these guys are successful!"
Actually, this is a fun idea. Anyone who is creative enough to produce a small video can enter until July 21. The thought is, that maybe it is time the public was informed as to what the music industry is all about. The hope is that through these videos, it will become apparent that these institutions are no longer required.
Categories Movies for Music is launching with a video contest that will run from June 14 - July 21. We're accepting videos in two categories: 1. The RIAA in 30 Seconds: 30-second TV ad-style videos that get right to the point. 2. Everything Else: Any other kind of video or animation as long as it focuses on an aspect of the music industry. We recommend keeping videos under five minutes. Prizes First Prize: The winner will receive a new ZVue handheld video player and the Downhill Honorable Mentions: will receive a t-shirt of their choice. Everyone: Everyone who submits a video gets a "Movies for Music" compilation DVD of all the entries (and maybe some bonus material 😉 But the real prize is the chance to show people how the music business works and make some real change. We'll have a to-be-determined judging process to pick the best videos received by July 21. Press Downhill Battle and p2pnet will be reporting regularly on the movie contest, and we'll be contacting mainstream press as well. If the movies are great, maybe we'll get some great write-ups. |
Even if it doesn't succeed in the demise of the RIAA and it's ilk, maybe we can all have some fun, either watching or creating these informational clips. Read a bit more over at Movies for Music. They have three clips already.
