Vizio launches $199 Blu-ray player

Vizio has introduced a new standalone Blu-ray player that will be released later this year with a retail price of $199.

Consumers on a budget can purchase the new VBR100 blu-ray player which ooffers 108MHz/11-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC), 1080p quality, Profile 2.0 compatible, 7.1 analog audio outputs, and onboard Dolby TrueHD and DTS-Master Audio.

It'll play Blu-ray, DVD-Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD, audio CD-R and CD-RW, and MP3 CDs.

The Vizio VBR100 will be available in April.

Most of you probably know Vizio as a manufacturer of low-cost HDTVs, but the company continues to branch out and create TVs, Blu-ray players, and speakers designed to offer consumers on a budget the opportunity to watch HD content.

The majority of Blu-ray players unveiled during CES have additional perks and benefits, but with many of you wanting cheaper Blu-ray players, there obviously is a market for a Blu-ray player that could be $149 sometime in the future.
