Wal-Mart announces Blu-ray special offers this summer

Wal-Mart Stores Inc, the world’s largest retailer, has just announced that it will make new exciting offers this month to push Blu-ray sales. Wal-Mart is offering a $100 gift card for a week starting from June 8th till June 14th with the purchase of any Blu-ray player available in any of its stores.

The stores are also expanding the Blu-ray players’ brands for this summer. Brands like Samsung, Magnavox and Panasonic are all added to the wide selection of new Blu-ray players available in the stores. Selected movie titles will be sold cheaper as well. “300”, “Shooter” and “3:10 to Yuma” will be sold out for $15 starting from June 8th.

Wal-Mart has announced last February that it has wide plans for backing Blu-ray this year. That was just before Toshiba announced that it will stop its HD DVD production. The new offers are expected to boost up Blu-ray sales and encourage consumers to buy the highly-priced BD devices compared to the regular HD DVD players.

But that’s not all; Wal-Mart has finally redesigned its consumer electronics departments in all of its stores. The departments will now provide more space for video games testing. A wider selection of HD TVs and GPS navigation products are now available.
