The New International CD-i Association and the Black Moon Project join forces to create an even richer resource network for people looking for information about CD-i and its related technologies. The sites are fully complementary, with ICDIA focussing on the system in general, while the BMP website emphasises consumer software and game releases. A new portal will be created at CDinterative.co.uk, allowing visitors a quick and easy way to the information they need. The new network will also incorporate discussion forums for people to discuss everything CD-i, and provides the space for other CD-i websites that might join the network in the future.
The new co-operation shows that there remains a steady interest for information about CD-i, which, although not as successfull as a product on the consumer market, was very important for the development of the concept of interactive multimedia and the idea of combining advanced computer technology with easy to use consumer oriented electronics that we see emerge more and more nowadays, over a decade later. Furthermore, the format paved the way for many technologies that we use today, including MPEG video and audio codecs.
"I am pleased that ICDIA will become part of this new initiative", says Jorg Kennis, founder of the ICDIA web site. "It is great to see the site revived again, and that new information will be added to it as it becomes available".
"With the ICDIA hosted under the CDinteractive network of CD-i related websites, I hope to continue the excellent resource Jorg has created over the years", says Devin Shockwell, founder of The Black Moon Project and creator of CDinteractive. "It will remain a free accessible resource and continue its supporting role in the CD-i community"
