Worm turned claim spurned

The viruse`s start to look like the comercials NEW AND IMPROVED now we have the Nimda.e.

Antivirus companies have warned that the Nimda worm has not yet turned and is still biting networks almost seven weeks after its discovery.

A warning from Kaspersky labs said that Nimda is still breeding and that five variants of the code have been unearthed since its initial discovery in mid-September.

The most recent modification, Nimda.e, discovered last week, has actually had several original broken subroutines fixed and optimised. Nimda.e has already been found in the wild and is currently distributed as an email with the attachment 'Sample.exe'.

The latest research from the Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert) also said today that it "continues to receive a steady stream of reports of W32/Nimda, although the volume has dropped significantly since it first appeared on 18 September".
