Would you like a DVD rental with your Happy Meal?

heystoopid used our news submit to tell us "whilst viewing the PBS Nightly Business Report, they mentioned in passing a story about netflix slashing of charges, but you can see they face a far greater problem, from your trans state supermarket chains like Safeway etc Netflix to survive in the short term will need every edge there is available."

Fast-food giant McDonald"s is looking at installing self-service DVD kiosks from DVDPlay into restaurant locations nationwide over the next several years, DVDPlay CEO Jens Horstmann, CEO of the Los Gatos, Calif.-based company, said during a presentation at the Consumer Technology Ventures Conference here.McDonald"s has been running a trial with 157 of the machines in 107 Denver-area restaurants. Grocery giants Albertsons and Safeway have signed deals that could lead to machines in, respectively, 3,000 and 3,500 locations each. Even rental outlets (and DVDPlay competitors) like Blockbuster will invest in the machines.

My thanks go to heystoopid. I was just trying to find that story as we had discussed it earlier this week in another article's reactions. You just saved me some time. We also would like to encourage others that use our news submit to give us their thoughts, let
us know why you think this story is important to you or CD Freaks! Read the full story at C|Net.
