Video sharing web site YouTube.com has launched a new web site designed for TVs, which can be accessed through the Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii game consoles.
"Currently in beta, the TV web site offers a dynamic, lean-back, 10-foot television viewing experience through a streamlined interface that enables you to discover, watch and share YouTube videos on any TV screen with just a few quick clicks of your remote control," a YouTube blog reports. "With enlarged text and simplified navigation, it makes watching YouTube on your TV as easy and intuitive as possible."
An auto-play option built into the site offers viewers the chance to watch related videos in one solid sequence, and viewers won't be forced to select other videos each time one ends.
PS3 and Wii owners in 22 countries will have access to the new YouTube site in 12 different languages. The Microsoft Xbox 360 is currently the only next-generation console left out, which is a shame as Microsoft has attempted to blend TVs and Internet together.
Although YouTube has signed previous agreements to bring the video sharing web site into the living room through set-top box devices, manufacturers have been slow to roll out Web browsers or direct access to YouTube.
YouTube for Television can be found by visiting the following site: http://www.youtube.com/tv.
YouTube is already the most popular video sharing web site for Internet users on PC's, but Google has attempted to take the site mobile and into the living room.
