The Dutch anti-piracy organisation Brein has forced a Dutch uploader of pirated content to stop uploading and to post his apologies on torrent sites. The Dutchman shared more than 5,000 torrents on popular torrent sites like Kickass Torrents and The Piratebay, according to Brein.

He was known by his nickname 'ipod020' and posted new torrents almost daily, especially e-books and movies. In a settlement with Brein he had to pay a fine of thousands of Euros and promise to stop sharing pirated content.
Besides that, he also had to post an apology on his profile on the torrent websites stating, "Illegally up and downloading doesn't only cost the movie industry a lot of money but me too. Don't do it. I had to settle with Brein for thousands of Euros".
In a press release announcing its latest measure, Brein points out that it can become very expensive for uploaders that get caught. "Some uploaders pretend piracy is an innocent hobby while they cause a lot of damage and illegal sites make a lot of money from it. If you get caught it at least becomes an expensive hobby", according to Brein.
Brein previously announced it will start to use new software next year to more easily hunt on pirates on a large scale.
