AOpen DRW4410 4x DVD+R/RW review @ CDRLabs.com

Our friends from
CDRLabs.com have posted a new review today on their site. This time they've
taken a look at AOpen's DRW4410 drive, a 4x DVD+R(W) recorder. A while back we
also reviewed this drive and found that it performed
pretty well. It was certainly not the best DVD recorder we've seen but it also
wasn't a bad drive. Here's part of what CDRLabs.com had to say about
the drive:

I must admit that I have mixed feelings about AOpen's
new writer. The DRW4410 is a big improvement over AOpen's previous DVD+RW
drive, the DVRW2412Pro. The DRW4410 brings faster DVD and CD writing
speeds to the table and, for the most part, delivered as advertised.
Unfortunately, this wasn't enough to make it one of the top DVD writers
we've tested.

Like the Ricoh drive it's based on, the DRW4410
features 4x DVD+R and DVD+RW writing speeds. In our tests, the drive took
less than 13 minutes to write 4GB of data to a DVD+RW disc. However, it
took more than a minute and a half longer to do the same with DVD+R media,
making it one of the slower 4x DVD writers we've tested. The DRW4410 also
had a slight disadvantage in some of our DVD read tests. While the most of
the newer DVD writers can read data DVD-ROM's at 12x, the DRW4410 has a
maximum read speed of only 8x. Fortunately, it was also able to read DVD
videos and recordable media at this speed.

I'll admit that the DRW4410 isn't for everyone. Those
looking for fast DVD reading and writing speeds will probably gravitate
towards some of the newer 8x DVD writers or one of the faster 4x drives
like the Lite-On LDW-401S. On the other hand, if you're someone on a
budget, the DRW4410 just might be the answer. Currently going for less
than $ 110 on Pricewatch, it's one of the more affordable 4x DVD+R/RW
drives currently available.

Overall the AOpen DRW4410 drive gets a score of 8 out of 10. If
