Our friends from CDRLabs.com have wrapped up a new review of the AOpen DVRW2412Pro DVD+R(W) recorder. The DVRW2412Pro can write DVD+R and DVD+RW media at 2.4X, write CD-Rs at 12X and rewrite CD-Rs at 10X:
For some reason, getting one of AOpen's drives in here for review has become harder than scoring tickets to the Super Bowl. You can imagine that I was a little surprised when AOpen sent us a DVRW2412Pro to review. To give you an idea of what to expect from their new DVD+RW/+R drive, we'll take a look at its features and then see how it compares to some of the other DVD+RW drives we've had a chance to look at. Does AOpen's new DVD writer have what it takes? Keep reading to find out. |
Part of the Conclusion:
While the DVRW2412Pro is a good drive, AOpen honestly hasn't broken any new ground. Like many drive manufacturers looking to get a DVD writer onto the market quickly and affordably, they opted to base their drive on the Ricoh MP5125A. While there is nothing wrong with this, it is hard to make your drive stand out when all of the drives sitting on store shelves advertise the same writing speeds and same basic features. Fortunately, AOpen has made their drive stand out somewhat by including one of the better software bundles I've seen.
The AOpen drive gets an overall score of 9. If you want to read the complete review of this AOpen DVRW2412Pro recorder then check it out here.
