TAGES always had a reputation of toughness
amongst copy protections, although for a long time only one game used it
(Motoracer3 from 2001). Recently we saw 3 new TAGES protected games published
(XIII, Robocop, Beyond Good and Evil), so it seemed interesting to have a
look at this new version. One of our editors tested it and he was not really
impressed by the changes:
new and still lazily relies on its original twin sector idea. After 2 years of development it seems that all the changes sum up to a new authentication method (as badly implemented as the original one) and a few awkward securityimprovements (pseudo-random accesses). |
Of
course it helped that the Tages website contains quotes from
visitors of our website. (We encourage Tages to use quotes from our article
as well) If you are interested to know how he managed to make a backup of XIII,
you can read the entire article here.
