ASUS shows their M1&M2 laptops at CeBIt, now with HD DVD.

ASUS has previewed their latest laptop offering at CeBIt this week, the W1 and W2 notebooks will offer the Toshiba model HD DVD optical drive.  They claim resolution 6X better than current DVD players when used with HD DVD disks as well as the usual increase in storage space of up to 30GB.

Based on what I have read about actual increases in real perceived benefits from HD and Blu-ray, it seems that you really don't get your money's worth until you go to a screen larger than 32".  Some can't see any difference until 40".  I know my tired eyes can barely see the benefits of progressive scanning unless I really look for it.  My bet is that this drive will see a lot of time hooked up to an external screen.  The good news is that they are getting cheaper.

Anyone want to make a guess as to how long it takes before HD is in all the laptops, whether we need it or not?
