Avex to release six more CDs with copy locks in Japan

Ushi-san used our newssubmit to tell us about another newspost at Japan Today saying that the Avex company will release six more protected titles in Japan:

TOKYO '” Audiovisual software maker Avex Inc said Tuesday it will release six new titles on compact disks designed to prevent users from copying the songs on April 24. Among the six CDs to be released this month is the single "Free & Easy" by the firm's top-selling female vocalist Ayumi Hamasaki.

Avex plans to release about 20 titles in the new security format in May and by the end of September to have converted all of its new CDs accordingly. Company officials said they have received about 400 inquiries from consumers about whether they would be able to play the new titles on their CD players. (Kyodo News)
