BDHero is an automatic Blu-ray to MKV muxer and analysis tool which is free and open source. The project, hosted on open source hosting platform Github, is developed by Andy Dvorak who develops the software in his free time.

The application can do a lossless Blu-ray to MKV conversion and has these other features:
- Movie name detection
- Main movie playlist (.MPLS file) detection
- Metadata detection:
- Movie title, release year, etc.
- Cover art (movie poster) displayed in Windows Explorer (via Icaros)
- Chapter names
- Audio/video/subtitle track auto-select based on preferences (language, codec, channel count, etc.)
- Customizable file name and output directory with variables
The software uses BDInfo, FFmpeg and MKVToolNix to get the work done and gets its content from TMDb, TVDB and ChaperDb. It works on Windows XP and higher and requires the .NET framework.
You can download both an installer and portable edition from the BDHero website.
