BenQ Inc. introduces its latest writer, the 5224P

On the BenQ website we can find a new writer model, the BenQ 5224P. As the model name already suggests this drive will support 52X (CAV) writing and 24X re-writing. Its read speed will also be 52X.

This latest BenQ model will be using the Seamless Link Technology to prevent buffer underruns but the BenQ website doesn't mention how large its buffer size will be. We can read the following information:

Again, leading the technology race - the new BenQ 5224P 52X CD-RW delivers the same worry-free stability as our older 48x drives. Burning through an entire 80min CD in less than 3-minutes (Under Optimal Conditions), the 5224P will never hold you back.

Key Features:

  • 52X Writing, 24X Rewriting, 52X Reading
  • Employs CAV writing mode
  • Smart Speed auto- selects the optimum write speed
  • Seamless Link Technology for buffer under-run prevention
  • Flash Memory / Upgrade System
  • Smart Speed automatically selects the optimum speed for the media used
  • Anti-Vibration System
  • Collision Guard Technology
  • Play / Skip function buttons on panel
  • Emergency Eject
  • Dust protection design
  • Power Saving Feature

From the listed features the "Collision Guard Technology" sounds pretty interesting. I wonder what this means exactly but I guess we'll have to wait for the first reviews of this drive to find out. More information on this new drive can be found on the BenQ website.
